The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to join our team as an environmental specialist inside the Division of Environmental and Financial Assistance located in our Central Office in the heart of Ohio’s capitol.
As an environmental specialist, you’ll provide financial, technical and administrative assistance for planning, design and implementation of projects through the Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF), the Water Supply Revolving Loan Account (WSRLA), the federal SAAP program grants and other projects and programs within the scope of the division.
You will coordinate the intra-office project review team to help ensure program requirements are met in a timely manner to achieve the established loan award date, while reviewing applications for compliance with state and federal requirements. You will also perform periodic site visits to ensure recipients’ ongoing compliance with assistance requirements and perform administrative completions for projects.

You will respond to inquiries on financial, procedural or environmental issues and schedule and manage all necessary actions of the section or office so financing is available according to the needs of applicants. You’ll assist applicants with development and preparation of application documents and work with other federal, public and private entities to coordinate a complete financing program.
As environmental specialist, you’ll also request and review information from public officials about their financing needs for eligible environmental quality projects and organize and conduct project meetings to help resolve any project issues or problems.

OR 4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in position involving engineering or chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, geology or hydrogeology &/or other comparable physical or health science field &/or mathematics which included responsibility for conducting compliance monitoring surveys &/or inspections/reviews or investigations, or review of permit applications relative to oil & gas well operations or injection, annular disposal & saltwater injection wells & enhanced recovery projects or coal mining, or solid/hazardous waste sites or industrial & municipal wastewater dischargers, or collecting, compiling & preparing various environmental assessments, evaluations, reports & related documents. Training & experience must be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
OR baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, earth science &/or urban & regional planning, geology or other comparable physical or health science fields, with training to be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
