• Ensures MSHA, OSHA, DOT, DEP, and EPA regulatory compliance at all levels of plant operation.
• Inspects and evaluates workplace environments, equipment, and work practices, to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards and government regulations.
• Coordinates and supports training efforts, such as safety new hire orientation, user-level training, and periodic refresher training such as MSHA OSHA and DEP Annual Refresher Training.
• Reports EHS trends and makes recommendations for continuous improvement to management staff.
• Responsible for filing Environmental Permits and documentation as needed.
• Responsible for ensuring reports, documentation and inspections are up to date, and available for inspections by regulatory agencies.
• Develops and maintains appropriate PPE processes for plant environmental applications.
• Assists in monitoring site contractors for compliance with contract Safety & Environmental requirements.
• Monitor and perform regularly scheduled audits and inspections for plant program adherence to all policies, processes, equipment, and work areas.
• Demonstrate and support the Silvi rules and policies and promote an overall healthy and safe work environment.
• Conduct trainings for hourly and salary employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science or other relevant course of study.
• 3- 5 years of experience managing field environmental duties.
• Experience within the mining or concrete industry preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Occupational health, safety and environmental compliance experience with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and standards.
• Experience with safety programs and OSHA regulations.
• Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies.
• OSHA 500, MSHA Blue Card, First Aid/CPR, CSP or CIH Certifications a plus.
• Ability to provide trainings on the weekend and evenings occasionally throughout the year.
