Caterpillar’s Electrification + Advanced Power Solutions Division is looking for an Engineering Specialist to serve as the battery performance lead within the Power Battery System team. This exciting opportunity will serve a critical role in the development of Battery Systems for wide range of Caterpillar mobile and stationary applications.

The Battery System development team consists of over 20 mechanical and electrical engineers developing the next generation of Caterpillar power sources. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Assessing new application battery requirements to identify potential solutions
- Completing battery life assessments using available tools.
- Thermal simulation of battery system using 1D and CFD simulation tools
- Collaborating with simulation team to improve available simulation tools.
- Engaging with manufacturing engineering team to develop and implement battery EOL test protocols.
- Collaborating with validation team to ensure battery performance considerations addressed in DVP&R
- Reviewing battery lab and field test data to assess battery performance
- Developing and maintaining battery risk assessments
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited engineering curriculum
- 5 or more years of relevant engineering experience
- 3 or more years of power source or drivetrain performance or validation experience at a component or system level
- Excellent analytical skills and understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctorate degree in an accredited engineering curriculum
- Experience with MatLab, DIAdem, CANape GT-SUITE, Amesim or similar software
- Knowledge of drivetrain systems for a range of architectures (hybrid, BEV, etc.)
- Battery or electric drive system performance and life analysis experience
- Requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
- Position requires excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills to enable coaching and/or influencing others on new technologies, new applications, or potential solutions
- Ability to communicate, collaborate, and build trust across a wide and diverse range of people – product specialists, internal partners, technicians, and engineers.
