POSITION SUMMARY:
Conceives of, plans, designs, develops, and implements circuits, sub-circuits, and components involving micro-computers and associated analog and digital interface circuits. Defines scope, plans, organizes, leads and directs technical work for new and existing programs. Monitors and controls costs, timing, and other related aspects of projects. Works with internal and external resources to ensure all project needs/expectations are met. Serves as a resource by initiating action to overcome obstacles and prevent potential problems. Champions continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs and comply with automotive specifications. Analyzes different variables involved in product launches and communicates results to appropriate personnel; areas may include design validation, reliability analysis, qualification of new components, line failure analysis, production startup, et cetera. Designs and generates microcomputer software to integrate circuit functions and user interfaces. Performs other duties as necessary for completion of projects and achievement of departmental goals.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science and/or electrical engineering, with understanding of engineering practices, principles, processes and systems; or equivalent.
- Previous experience in automotive industry with a background in electronics and software design strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of communication protocols used in automotive applications including: CAN, LIN, UART, I2C, etc.
- Demonstrated use of Microsoft Visual Basic 6 and .NET. Knowledge of C, C++, C# and other programming languages a plus.
- Demonstrated understanding of analog and digital video processing and testing.
- Demonstrated ability to create experiments and collect data to detect and root cause manufacturing and product issues.
- Demonstrated familiarity with manufacturing process and testing of rear and forward facing camera products.
- Demonstrated initiative to adapt and learn new processes and technologies from scratch.
- Demonstrated creativity and ingenuity to work on moderate to long-term assignments which are broad in nature.
- Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills to prioritize, coordinate projects, manage conflicting needs, and deal with many issues at one time. Must be able to work independently.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts and represent the Company in a professional manner when performing job duties.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills to exercise influence at various levels and functions.
- Demonstrated ability to research and recommend new products and processes. Must be able to initiate implementation of continuous improvement processes.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, design, develop, and implement circuits, sub-circuits, components, mechanical systems, and software solutions to solve production and product issues to Company and Customer specifications.
- Define scope, plan, organize, and execute experiments related to test and process engineering activities and product improvements for new and existing programs.
- Develops cost quotations and cycle time estimates related to projects. Understands and adheres to schedule and budgetary requirements of projects.
- Works with internal and external resources throughout design/development phase to ensure all project needs/expectations are met.
- Serves as a resource to initiate action to overcome obstacles and prevent potential problems.
- Champions continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs and comply with automotive environmental, electrical, and communication specifications.
- Serves as expert resource for other test engineers located here in Holly and in Germany and China. Occasional travel will be required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
