Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking candidates to fill Educational Community Worker - Bilingual Spanish vacancies. Current vacancies are located all throughout LA County.

The position performs liaison duties between the county office of education, school/college districts, students, and parents regarding educational and health resources; refers and informs students and parents to local agencies, community and school services/resources as appropriate.

Current vacancies are located in Antelope Valley High School, Bassett High School, Don Julian Elementary School, Duarte High School, Inglewood High School, Mayfair Middle/High Schools, McKinley Elementary School, MNettie L. Waite Middle School, Sierra Continuation High School, Sierra Vista High School, and Pasadena High School.

The resulting merged eligibility list will be used to fill future vacancies.

The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following

Knowledge:

  • Community resource organizations including various federal, state, county, and local agencies
  • Applicable district policies, the State Education Code, and/or other laws, rules and regulations
  • General office practices, procedures and equipment
  • Telephone techniques and etiquette
  • Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other related applications
  • Social media platforms

Required Education and Experience

Education: Graduation from high school or its equivalent.

Experience: One year of experience working in educational or community service agencies involving public contact.

Additional Requirements: Positions in this classification require passing a test of bilingual proficiency in oral Spanish and English. A valid California driver's license and availability of private transportation or ability to provide transportation between job sites is required.

Selection Process

Candidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of the Clerical/Secretarial written examination, a Spanish multiple-choice written examination and English/Spanish written/oral translation examinations, data entry and MS Office 2010 (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Powerpoint) computer examinations, and a structured interview. Candidates will need to meet or exceed the examination pass points to be placed on the eligibility list.
