Social & Health Program Consultant 2 - Basic Food Employment & Training Program Consultant

Join us in Transforming Lives as a member of the Community Services Division Headquarters, Economic Services Administration. We are seeking Basic Food Employment & Training Program Consultants to provide operational support to BFET contractors.

In this role, you will maintain business and community partnerships supporting the BFET program. Collaboration, the ability to work independently, and strong presentation skills are important as you provide operational support to contractors, determine eligibility for services, and assist customers in accessing services. You will develop relationships with BFET contractors, local DSHS Community Services Offices, and community partners.

These opportunities can be located at any Community Services Division office statewide. Due to the nature of the work, there is travel involved, although these vacancies do have a telework/work from home schedule.

Some of what you will do


  • Gather information and define needs to better assist in providing services to our clients
  • Be a liaison between BFET contractors and community partners, representing the department at different events and monthly support meetings with contractors
  • Determine eligibility for BFET services and keep all records and reports of clients current
  • Travel to various locations to promote services to the public
  • Monitor contractors' caseload and ensure work is accurate and timely
  • Communicate with clients regarding optional and mandatory services and procedures
  • Partner in gathering and recording data to quantify performance measures

Who should apply
  • A master's degree or higher in social work, a health or social science, public administration, or a related field and one year of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health or chemical dependency treatment services programs
  • Or, a bachelor's degree in social work, a health or social science, public administration, or a related field and two years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs
  • Or, one year of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 1
  • Or, 2 years as a Public Benefits Specialist 3 or 4
A degree in Social Work must be from an educational program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Organizing and conducting meetings and giving presentations
  • Working with community-based resource programs or direct service delivery including community outreach, community resource problem-solving, or developing social service programs
  • Working knowledge of Community Services Division programs and policies
  • Use of ACES, eJAS, and Barcode software programs
  • Interpreting RCW's and WAC's
  • Creating reports and presenting information
  • Working independently to establish priorities and organize work to enable the completion of assigned tasks timely and accurately
  • Dealing with change effectively and helping others through the change process
