On-Call Position
We are looking for our next Draftsperson to join our Productive Services team. The main objective of this role will be to work with the Production Services department on new projects using SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD and maintain the files in the Enterprise Data Management system. The ideal candidate will be able to collaborate with different teams, and able to work alone who can communicate clear information.

The Draftsperson will have the opportunity to:
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert to assist Team Members with proper Cirque du Soleil (CDS) drafting protocol and applications;
  • Create and maintain technical and process documents for Production Services-supported applications (Solidworks, AutoCad, Vectorworks, Spotlight, VCarve);
  • Work closely with the Advisors and Project Managers for research and analysis pertaining to the construction and transfer of mobile infrastructures for tours (acquisition and/or modification);
  • Create and draft technical drawings of mobile tour infrastructures using sketches, engineering calculations, technical data sheets and other data;
  • Work closely with Creative and Production teams to interpret and render design drawings of scenic, 3D and 2D elements into practical construction drawings and blueprints for fabrication;
  • Convert Wire frame, Blender and other design programs into AutoCAD and VCarve files to transfer to CNC machine for prototyping and fabrication of 3D Props and Character elements for new show development;
  • Draw plans, in 2D and 3D, for building or modifying mobile infrastructures;
  • File and archive graphic information for construction projects;
  • Complete other job-related duties as assigned.
What does it take for this role? The following hard skills are the basics of what’s needed to be successful in this position:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred;
  • At least three years of previous experience working with 2D and 3D AutoCAD design;
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks;
  • Previous experience in the fields of technical entertainment, scenic construction and fabrication, information technologies, application support, training; a combination of all is desired;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel);
  • Working knowledge of a Product Data Management system; SolidWorks EPDM preferred;
  • Previous experience with assembly of both structural and mechanical drawings;
  • Strong understanding of files using xrefs (external references parts) and embedded parts;
  • Exceptional attention to detail;
  • Flexibility to work in varying environments and locations;
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; French is an asset;
  • Verification of the right to work in the United States for Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, as demonstrated by completion of the Form I-9 upon hire and the submission of acceptable documentation (as noted on the Form I-9) verifying one’s identity and work authorization.
