TEKsystems is seeking a DOCSIS Network Engineer for a 100% Remote contract to hire opening.

***Must have 3-5 years of experience with DOCSIS, CMTS, cable modem platforms, HFC and/or EPON***

Description:

Transport Engineering will design, implement, and support the company’s region wide Transport Engineering Network which includes; DWDM, ROADM, Optical, SONET, Ethernet, M&C, DACS and Synchronization systems. Collaborate with other departments to ensure the delivery of a reliable and scalable network while meeting business and customer’s needs. Provide expert level engineering knowledge and mentorship to internal and external customers.

Position’s Customer(s): All GCI business units and some external customers.

Additional Job Requirements: At a senior engineer level, will be expected to perform highly complex and diverse design, plan, deploy, and support the company and department’s business strategy. Must be able to make independent engineering decisions and provide technical direction for resolution. Receives clear direction on assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions. Supervisory assistance is provided on unusual problems. Must have the ability to effectively communicate day in and out with peering teams and customers. Be a collaborator, a team member and willing participant in meetings, scheduled calls and one on one sessions. Ability to mentor junior engineers and technicians. Your day to day work will include but will not be limited to design, implementation and support of the company’s region wide Transport Network Systems.

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• A very high-level knowledge of standard engineering practices that support space and power
• Demonstrated successes in design, implementation and support of DWDM, ROADM, Ethernet, SONET, GPON and DACS technologies
• Excellent time management skills to manage complex projects on time and within budget
• A high level of experience with TCP/IP and routing protocols
• Highly intuitive analytical, strategic, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills are necessary
• Microsoft Office tools expert; Excel, Word, Outlook and Visio
• Ability to work collaboratively together towards a common goal
• Self-directed and motivated, highly focused on the company and departmental goals
• Creative and innovative problem solver
• Strong use of interpersonal skills, creativity and communication in all forms
• Strong knowledge of fiber loss and characterization resolutions

• For the degreed engineer, minimum three years’ experience of relevant and progressive technical experience within a telecommunications industry.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree Electrical / Mechanical / Telecommunications or similar Engineering programs.
• In addition to minimum experience required, education may be substituted with relevant experience on a year for year basis.
• Certifications: Industry specific certifications are highly valued.

o Professional Level - Cisco: CCNA, MEF CECP, vendor specific SONET, Ethernet and ROADM design certifications
