A small, acute care hospital located near Bakersfield, California has a fantastic opportunity for a full-time permanent Director of Radiology to come and work for their hospital! Great facility, great team and culture to be a part of!

Directly responsible for the daily operations and financial management of the Department of Radiology. Ensures that all procedures have a physician’s order. As a member of the care team, maintains a collaboratively working relationship with other members. The Director is expected to provide direct patient care, as needed, based on their licenses, skills and knowledge. Ensures the department operates under State, Federal and other regulatory agency guidelines and regulations. This position requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

Director of Radiology Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduated from an accredited radiology program. BS or BA required. Master’s Degree required or within 36 months from hire.
  • Licensure/ Certification: Current California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) and American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) certifications, or, American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography (ARDMS), or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and California Certified Technologist, Nuclear Medicine. Current BLS certification within one month of employment.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a Radiology, Ultrasound or Nuclear Medicine Technologist with knowledge of multiple imaging modalities, state and federal regulations. Must have 5 years of management experience.

Director of Radiology Essential Functions:

1. Patient Care

  • Develops staffing levels consistent with patient care needs and productivity expectations.
  • Communicates with the radiologist regarding procedures and operations.
  • Evaluates, coordinates and assists in the care of patients.
  • Provides direct patient care within the scope of competency and licensure.
  • Explains the procedure to the patient.
  • Provides a safe patient, visitor, physician and staff environment.
  • Consults with staff as necessary, to meet patient care needs.
  • Assures that clinical equipment is operational, and supplies are available.

2. Administrative

  • Identifies performance improvement opportunities and submits quarterly findings.
  • Ensures there is a radiologist peer review program.
  • Reviews untoward events with the in-house radiologist and/or the Radiology Medical Director
  • Ensures that the Department operates under State, Federal, The Joint Commission and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Responsible for the development of the capital and operating budgets.
  • Responsible for operating within established productivity standards.
  • Staff evaluations are completed within the expectations of BHH.
  • Responsible for evaluating competency.
  • Responsible for staff orientation and training.
  • Responsible for evaluating and hiring staff.
  • Evaluates equipment with assistance of the materials manager and radiology group.
  • Responsible for creating, reviewing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that licenses are current.

3. Department

  • Delegates PI, peer view and regulatory responsibilities to staff
  • Maintains and promotes a team spirit through cooperation and collaboration.
  • Schedules and leads department staff meetings.
  • Develops a positive and collegial relationship with hospital directors and supervisors.
  • Provides assistance to hospital-wide staff as needed.

Pay: $134,000.00 - $171,000.00 per year
