SUMMARY
Provide support and strategic direction for overall financial concerns of the church. Support the Executive Pastor by managing and overseeing financial functions of the church including the finance office, as well as supporting other departments within operations. Provide strategic direction and guidance to staff in matters of finance with regard to appropriate stewardship of church funds.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible to Executive Pastor, Treasurer, Finance & Audit Committee, and Audit Committee as relates to financial matters of the church. Responsible to direct and supervise the persons in roles of Staff Accountant, Coordinator of Contributions & Tuition Records, and Accounts Payable and Receivable Administrator. In addition to normal responsibilities, the Director of Finance is a member of a team dedicated to Christian service and is expected therefore seek at all times to conduct himself/herself in such a way that would be pleasing to the Lord. Since the responsibilities of the Director of Finance in a church office are composed of many diverse elements, flexibility and cooperation in working with others is expected at all times. The Director of Finance is expected to willingly perform such tasks, which might not be considered part of the normal position description.
ONGOING RESPONSIBLITIES
- Responsible to oversee all accounting functions through financial statement preparation for the Church.
- Prepare supplemental or specialized financial reports for the Executive Pastor, Treasurer and Trustees as needed.
- Manage relationships with financial institutions for credit card processing and credit card payments, general banking needs, and financing.
- Manage the annual independent church audit, providing all necessary documentation requested by auditors and preparing financial statements according to GAAP.
- Support the annual operating budget process by compiling and summarizing information needed by the Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor and with the Executive Pastor develop a budget recommendation for Session.
- Work with staff to allocate approved budget funding by ministry area.
- Coordinate with the Executive Pastor and develop the annual Capital budget recommendation for Session.
- Manage tuition-based program finances.
- Attend Finance & Audit Committee meetings and take minutes and serve as a resource regarding action items.
- Complete and timely file all necessary forms for compliance with applicable laws.
- Assist in required denominational reporting.
- Responsible to oversee matters of general office management, space usage, and equipment maintenance.
- Work with the Executive Pastor and Executive Assistant to upkeep of documentation for, and enforcement of, church Policies & Procedures that pertain to the finance office.
- Monitor and review best practices and share responsibility for risk management and insurance coverage.
- Provide support to maintain capital reserves schedule within Session-approved plans.
- Serve as a resource for building-related vision and strategic planning.
- Transfer funds into payroll account in timely manner for semi-monthly payroll.
- Review quarterly payroll tax returns and annual W-2s.
- Work with HR to maintain compensation worksheet.
- Must be available for monthly evening meetings and occasional weekend or evening events.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Executive Pastor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Is active member of a Christian Church.
- Personally affirms the purpose, mission and vision of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A BS/BA in accounting from a four-year college or university.
- Seven years related experience and/or training in financial statement preparation and analyses and financial software systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced degrees and certifications preferred, such as a CPA.
- Efficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office, accounting software such as Parishsoft, PushPay, Quickbooks, Brightwheel, Church Database Systems such as CCB.
- Sage Intact preferred.
SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS
- Salary Range is $81,700 to $122,500 Depending on Experience
