Position Purpose: This position is about directing and overseeing SA Hospitality Group’s events teams for Sant Ambroeus, Felice, and Casa Lever brands, as well as the Sant Ambroeus catering department, including Sotheby’s Auction House venue. The Director is a leading figure in giving guidance, training, and monitoring that all Event and Catering Managers are following standard procedures. The Director also creates a department strategy, sales and profit targets, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Lead the events structure for Private Dining at Felice, Casa Lever and Sant Ambroeus brands, as well as off-premise Catering and events at Sotheby’s Auction House.
  • Manage a team of 7 planners; Recruiting and Training for the positions;
  • Conduct weekly meetings to monitor sales and progress;
  • Monthly sales, cost and margin reports;
  • Implement and manage Gather system for all units;
  • Drive creation of systems and implementation of SOPs for all Sant Ambroeus Catered Events;
  • Create a sales strategy to meet sales expectations
  • Lead Catering events at Sotheby’s Auction house, lead a team of 1-2 events planners, and maintain communication between the company and Sotheby’s
  • Maintain an excellent track record of maintaining budgetary allotments and exceeding guests’ expectations in satisfaction;
  • Document and reviews all records for each event and analyze what can be done to improve booking sales and operations;
  • Create a booklet for menus and services, and appropriately tailor them to the client requests;
  • Maintain an excellent knowledge of food, wine offerings at all units;
  • Coordinate with operations managers to organize necessary banquet, kitchen, and service staff and arrangements for each event;
  • Create standardized event reports and cost control reconciliation;
  • Negotiate prices with top vendors such as rental company, staffing agencies, to ensure best service and fees across all units.
  • Be a reference for the events team for vendors contacts and relations (A/V System,

Photographer, collateral materials, Florist, Lighting…)

  • Work with Design department for custom menus, promotional brochures and collateral materials or signage;
  • Facilitate repeat and new business for event functions and exceed the sales expectations of the

Special Events Department, along with all events managers at locations;

  • Develop effective presentations (orally and written) where ideas, opinions, recommendations and conclusions are strong understanding and expertise in the sales process;
  • Use professional sales techniques to negotiate the best possible terms and conditions that satisfy customer (internal and external) requirements;
  • Setting goals for the events team to exceed sales budgets and guests expectations;
  • Schedule meetings with clients to present all SA Hospitality Group’s events venues;

Administrative

  • Actively respond to all company/operations emails whenever possible and always in professional manner;
  • Oversee all brand’s monthly sales and commission reports;
  • Finding and vetting new systems and platforms to be used by the company (ex:

Tripleseat/Gather, etc.)

  • Attend all necessary scheduled meetings ;
  • Create and update clients list for SA Hospitality Group’s;

Self-Development

It is understood that as Director of Catering and Private Events you are responsible to maintain current knowledge of the world of food and beverage products and current trends in the industry as well as monitoring current and new media sources. You will be required to continually develop this knowledge on your own time. Your progress in education will be evaluated on ongoing basis. Likewise, the company will assist in any way possible with any educational goals that relate to your duties as Director of Special Events(with prior management approval).

Qualifications:

•The qualified candidate will possess a passion for flawless service and the highest level of integrity and work ethic.

•Minimum 5 years working in Catering and Special Events Sales with minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory role.

•Strong selling and negotiating skills.

•Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).

•Professional verbal and written communication skills.

•Must be highly organized and detail oriented.

•Excellent customer service skills and an open, courteous, and friendly personality.

•Strong interpersonal and team player skills.

•Strong leadership and management skills.

•Must be able to efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while meeting deadlines, prioritizing appropriately, and providing excellent customer service.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $115,000.00 per year
