Job Description Summary:
The Director, Exam Security will be responsible for ensuring the efficacy of processes that protect the integrity the CFA Institute’s exam programs and designations. This role leads the operations of the Exam Security team, including the identification, prevention, and mitigation of risk associated with all CFA Institute exams. This role collaborates with internal leaders in Legal and Compliance, Risk and Ethics and builds relationships with external leaders in the testing industry to inform the development and implementation of security policy and procedures and the management of the organization’s response to exam security incidents and investigations.
The position can be based in Charlottesville, VA or a remote position and reports to the Head, Exam Management & Measurement.
Job Description:
As a Director, Exam Security, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Exercise primary oversight of the Exam Security workgroup to ensure the security of all CFA Institute examinations
  • Provide oversight and direction for development of security policies for all CFA Institute examinations
  • Develop and update written policies, procedures and methods for maintaining exam security, to include prevention, identification, investigation, and resolution of threats to intellectual property and other exam security breaches
  • Liaise with legal counsel, Professional Conduct and psychometrics as needed and recommend action to senior leaders based on policy and historical decisions
  • Oversee all preventative measures that address the security of CFA Institute examinations, including: web patrol for issues relative to CFA Institute-sponsored exams; surveillance of test prep providers courses and materials; close collaboration with testing vendor partners; data forensics program; technology-related projects
  • Respond to all exam security incidents to determine when an investigation provides sufficient evidence to warrant action by CFA Institute
  • Liaise with legal counsel, Professional Conduct and psychometrics as needed and recommend action to senior leaders based on policy and historical decisions
  • Responsible for strategic risk planning project management within Exam Administration and Security to identify, prevent, and mitigate risk associated with all CFA-sponsored examinations
The skills and experience required for this role are:
  • Bachelor’s degree or a relevant combination of education and experience
  • Seven plus years of experience in a professional setting with demonstrated management capabilities
  • Five plus years of experience in security profession
  • Significant experience with the investigative process and the legal parameters of investigations is required
  • International testing/credentialing industry work experience preferred
  • Experience with international testing/credentialing industry work experience preferred
  • Global cultural orientation and working experience
  • Fluency in English required
  • Must demonstrate outstanding stewardship and relationship building/management skills to expand the mission of CFA Institute

CFA Institute salary ranges will vary by geographical location. This role is being posted nationally/internationally and does not have to be performed in New York City. In compliance with the New York City salary disclosure law, the anticipated base salary for this role in New York City will range between $117,000 and $197,000. Salaries are determined based on candidate relevant experience and skills, as well as internal equity.
