Director of Business Development Food/Beverage and Packaged Goods will lead our newly aligned strategic businesses in defining strategies and plans for a unified approach to the discrete automation market to deliver profitable growth and increased market participation in the industry space. This role is responsible for collaborating with the leaders from strategic businesses units and world areas to create and drive sales plans across industry segments. Preferred locations: East Coast or West Coast US region, Europe, or Southeast Asia.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directs all Business Development activities to insure full coverage of the target industries, sub-segments and global strategic accounts.
  • Primary focus areas are organic growth programs, industry/application expertise, sales enablement, understanding & acting-on underlying market growth trends, and global strategic account management across the segments
  • Prioritize competitive displacement and new solutions development to solve customer challenges
  • Collaboration with product marketing, product engineering and application engineering to define new products and market strategies
  • Maintains direct personal contact with global strategic accounts
  • Key interface with other Emerson business units. Act as a liaison and represent Discrete Automation’s interests.
  • Coordinate efforts with Emerson project pursuit teams. Ensure that opportunities are being leveraged when applicable.

Required Education & Experience

  • BA/BS Degree in one or more Engineering and Science disciplines
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience in business development within a sales environment
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally 30% to meet business needs
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Masters in Engineering, Business Administration or related degree preferred
  • Sales & Marketing experience preferred
  • 5-10 years prior experience in Project Management
  • Executive Management experience
  • Experience in relevant markets for industrial automation, machine automation, precision fluid control, and power and conditioning.

Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during the annual merit review process. The salary range for this role is $160,000 - $175,000 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to this role.
