About the role
Thiess is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to support our mining team on our project site near Denver, Colorado. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for safe repair of mobile equipment including mining excavator, loader, haul truck, water truck, dozer and grader.
What you’ll be doing
- Perform electrical, hydraulic and mechanical repairs, as well as preventative maintenance, in-shop and in the mine pit
- Comply with all safety, health and environmental rules and procedures
- While meeting safety standards, work with your team to maximize productivity and minimize downtime
Additional information
- All necessary tools will be provided
- Work schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off, rotating 12-hour shifts both days and nights
- Fly-in, fly-out opportunities for those who live out-of-state (travel expenses paid), drive-in, drive-out opportunities for those who live in-state (mileage reimbursed)
- Working at high elevation with cold, snowy conditions during winter months
- Hotel and shuttle accommodations provided
What we’re looking for
It’s required to have
- Ability to work extended shifts, rotating days and nights at high elevation
- Interpersonal skills to bring to a positive, inclusive team-oriented work environment
- Alignment with our “Everyone Safe Everyday” culture, having a paramount outlook on safety
- Experience in diesel/heavy equipment mechanics
It’s beneficial to have
- Hitachi Excavator (5600-7) or Liebherr Truck (T264) experience is highly regarded
- Technical training/certifications
- Experience working on a mine
- MSHA Part 48 certification (Thiess will provide training if needed)
