One of the leading community based public safety organizations in the nation, the Newark Community Street Team (NCST) focuses on violence prevention and intervention while concurrently working to reduce trauma and other vulnerabilities in our communities. NCST was founded in 2015 as Newark’s community-based violence reduction strategy and draws upon a trauma informed approach to violence reduction. NCST hires, trains and deploys Outreach Workers and High Risk Interventionists in Newark and operates one of Newark’s only Trauma Recovery Centers, providing free mental health services for the community, as well as a Hospital Based Violence Intervention Team, a Safe Passage Team, a Victim Services Department, an Overdose Response Team, an Education and an Eviction Prevention Team.
As NCST’s Development Associate, you will provide operational and administrative support for the financial and resource flow and fundraising for this amazing Black-led public safety organization. This includes, but is not limited to, support with planning and logistics, administrative tasks, communications, and internal and external relationship stewardship. Responsibilities will include:
- Support fundraising efforts by researching grant opportunities, maintaining a calendar for application deadlines
- Project design and management
- Liaise with organizational departments around funding concerns
- Assist with foundation and donor stewardship opportunities and efforts
- Provide communication and marketing support as needed
- Additional administrative support and related duties as assigned
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Extremely strong verbal and written communication skills including but not limited to drafting and editing business letters and documents
- Experience creating and maintaining filing systems
- Working knowledge of office applications such as MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, project management software and web-based virtual meeting platforms
- Willingness to familiarize yourself individual funders’ portals and platforms
This is a full-time position which can be performed primarily remotely. The salary range for this position begins at $51,000 annually. You will be asked to attend in-person meetings and events from time to time. This role may not offer a health insurance package immediately.
