This is a hybrid position, both in-office and remote.

Job Summary:
Responsible for the installation, patching and monitoring of database management system software for the enterprise.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Reviews and understand the Work Instructions and Procedures for the team and offers improvements that would enhance the performance of the team.
Monitors the day-to-day activities for production and non-production database systems to ensure smooth operation of all environments. This includes space administration within the database and at the operating system level to ensure the database systems perform properly and without disruption.
Creates and maintains multiple database systems and all required documentation to effectively support the applications that utilize these databases.
Creates and responds to automated alerts that ensure the integrity and stability of database systems.
Evaluates and assists in implementation of new software technology.
Establishes and maintains standard operating procedures for the operation of the database systems in support of disaster recovery processes.
Participates in disaster recovery exercises to ensure that database systems are ready and capable of supporting any business disruptions that may occur in the primary data center.
Provides technical assistance and support to both internal and external users of the corporation’s databases
Perform other related assigned duties as necessary to complete the Primary Job Responsibilities as described above.
Requirements:
Position requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field and three years of experience as a Database Administrator with any of the following database management systems: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, and experience.
Position requires experience with scripting languages such as BASH, KSH, PowerShell, Python or Perl, and a strong understanding of how they can be used to automate everyday tasks in support of databases running in a Microsoft Windows Server or Unix operating system environment; experience with database backup and recovery software products and concepts; experience supporting OLTP or Data Warehouse applications in a multi-user environment; experience working with Cloud databases is a plus; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work well in a team environment; and willingness to learn new technologies.
