Summary of Position
This individual will be a key member of the Center for DATA as a team lead for a group of BI developers and data engineers. The role will include supervising staff as well as contributing individually to ETL processes, metadata management, and evaluation of data infrastructure to meet strategic and operational needs for the USNH institutions in support of academic and student-related business processes. Contribute toward evolving the organization’s analytical self-service/ad hoc reporting capabilities using existing or future toolsets. Lead prototype efforts in various BI tools for capability assessment and demonstrations. In addition, this position will lead and take part in client support efforts, data governance, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) migration and will provide project management and oversight of related projects.

Other minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and six years of experience in information technology field, Master’s and four years, or combination of education and experience equal to ten years.
  • Prior experience managing people, projects and priorities.
  • Ability to lead technical and non-technical projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical clients.

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience working with business users and other IT areas to collect, shape, and use functional/business requirements to then design and develop end-to-end solutions including ETL, APIs, governance, presentation, reporting, and analytics as may be needed.
  • Strong working knowledge of relational database structure, theories, principles, and practices (Oracle; SQL Server) Advanced SQL skills.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise BI Platforms (BusinessObjects, MicroStrategy, IBM Cognos) and reporting/visualization technology (Crystal Reports, Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik). Familiarity with PL/SQL, and data modeling tools.


Bonus experience:
  • Prior experience in data engineering or business intelligence developer role in Higher Education
  • Knowledge of Banner Finance, HR, and Student systems
  • Prior experience with ERP implementation
  • Experience with Git and general version control
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, C++, Java
  • Experience with exploratory data analysis using big data technologies/languages such as Snowflake and AWS a plus
