Background
Showa Boston Institute of Language and Culture is a residential academic institution for about 300 students established by Showa Women’s University in Tokyo in 1988. Its mission is to increase students’ English proficiency, to develop their cross-cultural awareness, and to foster their personal growth. The 40+acre campus rests on a hilltop overlooking the Boston skyline. At the heart of the campus are administrative offices, residences, a dining hall, and educational facilities.
Position Summary
The Data Technologist’s role is to help the Academic and Information Technology departments in the development, management and use of ‘data’ across campus. The goal is to better facilitate processes in accessing and disseminating data used by all. This position will be responsible in assisting with the structuring and maintaining of the current use of data, with respect to processes, while planning and implementing for the future.
Programming in multiple languages is required. Additional duties include supporting the technology used on campus as well as software used by staff. Such support may require training to be provided to the end-user(s).
Specific Responsibilities
· Apply requested updates, design changes and/or plugins to current LMS (Moodle)
· Manage data for the school’s Student Data System (Diamond SIS)
· Assist Academic Department with logistics for master semester schedule planning
· Assist Academic Department with bulk data input and reporting
· Maintain any changes required in the use of current scheduling software
· Collaborate with outside departments on any technology cross-overs
· Work with other departments’ data management when necessary
· Research emerging technologies
· Maintain department and project documentation
· Support the hardware and software used by staff on campus
· Provide technical support for the campus website
· Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements
· Knowledge of current industry LMS (preferably Moodle) and student data systems
· Strong understanding of data management
· Visual design skills and ability to storyboard
· Experience in learning theories and instructional design models a plus
· Programming in PHP, MS SQL, MySQL, PowerShell, MS PowerApps, Flow, PowerAutomate
· BS or MA degree in data management, instructional design, educational technology or similar
· 2 - 3 years' relevant experience in a higher education environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
