Description:The Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems Chief Data & Analytics Office (RMS CDAO) is responsible for developing strategies and implementing integrated, cross-functional data-driven solutions that transform operations to deliver outstanding business results. Big Data, Business Intelligence, Data Governance, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning are all at the forefront of our digital transformation. This position will serve as a Senior Data Architect within RMS CDAO.

The Senior Data Architect will develop data and analytics related architectures, strategies, and roadmaps to solve RMS' most challenging data problems. This role will drive technical engagements and collaborate extensively with data professionals across RMS and other Lockheed Martin business areas. They will leverage their experience to generate improvements to best practices and operating models.

The work location for this position is virtual and this role can be performed from anywhere in the continental United States.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve data while working as part of an Agile scrum team
  • Conduct analyses of legacy data warehouses to identify opportunities for rationalization, retirement, and/or refactoring and execute identified opportunities
  • Assess stakeholder requirements and identify required structural design elements for databases and other data storage systems
  • Apply best practices for data architectures, models, and technical artifacts and continuously improve data solutions; collaborate with product owners, data engineers, data analysts, data architects, and other technical professionals to ensure standards are met
  • Recommend changes to improve system architecture to maximize performance and eliminate potential problems
  • Collaborate with other data and analytics organizations across Lockheed Martin on novel techniques and approaches to business problems
Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience in developing architectural diagrams, models, and documentation
  • Experience with systems engineering or enterprise architecture methodologies
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of data warehouses, data elements and application software solutions to optimize data gathering and analysis
  • Understands the data lifecycle and can interpret and communicate the state of data throughout the processing pipeline
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to document technical solutions in support of standards and best practices
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, or other relevant area
Desired Skills:
  • Prior Aerospace & Defense industry experience
  • Prior Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems Experience
  • Experience with cloud-hosted data, analytics, and/or AI solutions implementation
  • Knowledge or experience in Agile development processes and tools
  • Experience working with virtual teams
  • Experience implementing, upgrading, migrating, and/or retiring data, analytics, or AI platforms, such as SQL Server, Oracle, SAP HANA, IBM Cognos, SAP Business Objects, Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, Grafana, Cloudera, Hortonworks, Databricks, AWS S3, AWS EMR, Apache Spark, Apache Hive, Presto, Dremio, and Neo4j
  • Experience with common architectural tools, such as Cameo or Rhapsody
  • Experience architecting cloud-hosted solutions
  • Enterprise architecture experience
  • Prior experience with one or more industry-standard architectural frameworks, such as DoDAF, UAF, SysML, or MBSE

Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in Colorado or Washington is $89,600 - $171,800. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California or New York City is $103,100 - $194,300. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
