Job Description
DRI is seeking to fill a full-time Custodian, located in Las Vegas, NV, working under general supervision, to perform various custodial cleaning and maintenance services in the Las Vegas and Boulder City facilities, including the following responsibilities:

Mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, trash pickup, cleaning, sanitizing and restocking restrooms

Performing scheduled floor maintenance tasks, such as cleaning carpets, and stripping, waxing and polishing tile and terrazzo floors

Maintaining janitorial equipment (to include making minor repairs) and keeping inventory and ordering supplies
-
Performing routine building maintenance and repairs to kitchen and restroom plumbing
-
Set up and arrange tables and chairs in conference rooms as requested by meeting coordinator

Maintaining building safety and security by ensuring that doors are securely locked at all appropriate times and conducting building sweeps at close of business

Respond to on-call phone for fire, security, and mechanical failures for the campus

Assist with the Institute’s recycling program of paper, aluminum cans, plastics, cardboard, batteries, etc.
Required Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year full-time experience performing custodial work

Basic mechanical skills
-
Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office Word and Outlook
-
Ability to follow oral and written instructions, read/understand labels and mixing directions
-
Knowledge of safety procedures and safe work practices
-
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of personnel, including technical and academic staff
-
Proven success working within a team environment
-
Possession of valid driver’s license by date of hire
Preferred Qualifications (optional)
Greater consideration will be given to those who possess one or more of the following skills:

Experience working in an institutional, commercial, or educational building setting.

Familiarity of LEED cleaning procedures.
Compensation Grade
Technologist Grade 27, minimum starting salary of $36,949.46. Candidates will be hired at the level that is comparable to their experience, skills, and abilities.
DRI offers a benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance (Choice of three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts); PERS 15.50% retirement match, 10 hours of annual AND 10 hours sick leave accrued per month, 11 paid holidays, and educational benefits. Additionally, there is no state income tax or social security deduction. This position is eligible for relocation assistance.
Schedule
This position includes shift work and the shifts required hours are Morning, 6 am – 2:30pm, or Afternoon, 11 am - 7:30 pm. May be required to adjust schedule based on coverage needs. Incumbent is required to be on-call (on a rotating basis, approximately once every six weeks) and to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting objects in excess of 50 lbs., climbing ladders and working at heights up to 30 ft.; frequently stooping, bending, and kneeling; exposure to dust, fumes, pollutant, and construction materials; handling and mixing of chemicals and moving hazardous waste.
