Coordinator, Student Engagement & Support - South Campus

MAJOR REPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervise, coordinate, and manage the daily overall operations of Student Engagement and Support to deliver consistent services and experiences to students to achieve the agreed key performance measures.
  • Coordinate the development, recruitment, and implementation of year-round student leadership program.
  • Provide operational oversight over the department’s basic needs resources.
  • Supervise and support all student organization operations/activities including the creation and development of campus student organizations, financial oversight, and guidance/leadership to Student Organization Advisors.
  • Serve as the point of contact for on-campus student club accounts while remaining current on all laws and guidelines applicable to the use of state funds and club fundraising.
  • Serves as the primary advisor for the Student Government Association.
  • Facilitate training and/or informational sessions to students and the college community related to Student Engagement and Support services and programs.
  • Coordinate the development of programming and activities on the campus with other departments to develop student facing programming that celebrates equity, diversity, inclusivity, and awareness on campus and supports student retention efforts.
  • Manage and maintain multiple budgets, payroll, office schedules, monthly and annual reports for student engagement, and student support resources.
  • Manage the interviewing, selecting, training, supervising, and evaluation of a diverse staff through the performance management system.

Additional Job Functions:

  • Coordinate with the Student Support Services Leadership team to determine unit needs and implement services.
  • Consult leadership to plan, implement and evaluate the programs and services on the campus that support both the accomplishment of the College’s annual goals and objectives.
  • Represent SJC with outside educational institutions, internal departments, and professional organizations. Serve as department liaison and on campus/college committees as requested.
  • Negotiate contracts for campus events.
  • Manage the training and implementation of technology used by the department to serve students.
  • When applicable, travel with SGA officers and student leaders to conferences and other developmental opportunities.

REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess the ability to work well with students, student groups, and college faculty and staff within a diverse college community
  • Excellent oral and written communications, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills
  • Must possess computer literacy and good organizational skills
  • Must embrace a philosophy of servant leadership and foster a positive working environment
  • Ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously and to develop and complete new projects and programs with little supervision
  • Able to work with a diverse population of students, alumni, and community members
  • Possess the ability to effectively supervise, train, and develop staff
  • Possess skills to maintain a fair and decisive leadership style with the ability to make independent judgments
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate outcomes and effectiveness of projects/programs
  • Ability to interpret and enforce college policy

Education and Experience

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university required.


Required Experience:

  • Minimum of one-year successful professional experience in one or more areas: planning and implementing events and activities, coordinating support services, and/or organizing and delivering programming or training for groups.
  • Minimum of one year of experience managing multiple budgets.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • At least one year of experience supervising professional staff.
