JOB TITLE: Coordinator, Sr. Coordinator, Operations Business Support (OBS)
Location: North Fort Myers, FL
Work hours: Monday- Friday 7:30 am – 4:30 pm plus some irregular days/hours when needed

Position Summary: This position provides support and coordination of activities and tasks for one or more functional areas in the Design and Engineering department. Supports department personnel as needed in providing oversight and direction to both LCEC and contractor personnel. Respond reliably and timely to calls during regular work hours and non-regular work hours.
General Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe, productive work environment for the employees satisfying LCEC quality standards and policy.
  • Assist supervisor to maintain departmental processes and metrics. Develop and maintain reports and metrics to insure department efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development of budget forecasts.
  • Coordinate training activities and educational programs for internal/external employee and customers.
  • Act on behalf of the department supervisor in his/her absence.
  • Work in emergency storm situations (i.e., hurricanes) and work long hours (> 12 hours per day) for many continuous days (up to 2 months) as needed.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with contractors and LCEC employees, customers and other stakeholders. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during interpersonal communications. Provide current and accurate information to all requests, courteously and in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Rotate into other Coordinator roles as needed.

Position Responsibilities (by functional area):
Contractors (Design, Engineering, etc.):

  • Provide training to contractors on LCEC design procedures and applications.
  • Assign, check, and track progress of contractor’s work
  • Review and approve contractor timesheets.
  • Serve as the primary contact for C&M questions/concerns related to contractor designs.

Standards (Materials, Construction, Procedures, etc.):

  • Serve as the engineering subject matter expert for NISC design and workflow applications.
  • Function as the company expert on safety regulations for construction design standards.
  • Maintain Distribution Design procedures including, but not limited to
  • Design Operations Manual
  • Distribution Engineering Manual
  • Electric Service and Meter Requirements Handbook

Projects (Transmission, Substation, Distribution, Distributed Generation, etc.):

  • Coordinate project development with engineers/SMEs
  • Create business cases for proposed projects.
  • Establish project scope and requirements.
  • Provide project cost estimates for budget.
  • Coordinate project schedules.
  • Track material orders and deliveries.
  • Identify and secure resources needed.
  • Track project progress and cost.
  • Coordinate project closure
  • Verify as-built drawings and documentation are completed.
  • Ensure project assets are identified for the accounting as-built process.
  • Verify that project work order(s) are closed.

In addition to the above-referenced position responsibilities, a Sr. Coordinator is responsible for the following:

  • Identify need for and develop internal process improvements.
  • Document and submit requests for beneficial software enhancements.
  • Analyze data using statistical methodology.
  • May coordinate multiple functional areas within D&E.

Required & Desired Qualifications (by level):
General Requirements for all levels:

  • Demonstrated understanding of LCEC or other electric utility construction processes & standards.
  • Ability to successfully resolve customer or contractor issues and design problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with all levels within and outside of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and demands.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-energy and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess skills operating a PC and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, a work management system, and design/mapping software.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license (within 30 days of becoming a Florida resident)

Coordinator: Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering (prefer electrical or power) with 5 years’ engineering experience in the power industry; or Two-Year College Degree with 10 years’ engineering or coordinator experience in the power industry

Coordinator: Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Project/Work Group Coordination and/or Supervision experience
  • Project Coordination and/or Supervision Courses or Certifications
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) Registration
  • Collaborative labor relation direct experience

Senior Coordinator: Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering (prefer electrical or power) with 15 years’ engineering or Coordinator experience in the power industry; or Two-Year College Degree with 20 years’ engineering or coordinator experience in the power industry
  • Experience in two or more areas of the power industry
  • Qualified to fill in multiple Design and Engineering roles
  • Proven track record of Project Management or other Leadership experience
  • Advanced experience in NISC Software Package, Cascade, and Microsoft Project or similar programs.

Senior Coordinator: Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Engineering
  • Project / Work Group Coordination and/or Supervision experience
  • Project Coordination and/or Supervision Courses or Certifications
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) Registration
  • Recognition in the profession as a specialist in field (teaching, writing)

STORM DUTY REQUIREMENTS.... Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment: LCEC provides critical services to our community during an emergency. Employees are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our LCEC members.
