Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Fitness Coordinator of Group Fitness reports to the Assistant Director of Fitness and Aquatics and assists in the oversite, assessment and coordination of an innovative and growing collegiate fitness program that includes personal training, small group training, 26,000-square-feet of fitness center spaces, three group fitness studios, student staff supervision and special events. The Fitness Coordinator of Group Fitness will oversee Group Fitness, Custom Special Events, and Small Group Training programs and the management of fitness studios.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions
- One year of fitness programming and/or fitness center operation experience
- Experience in teaching multiple group fitness formats and small group training.
- Supervisory or related transferable skills
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Master’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Exercise Science/Physiology, or related field
- Graduate Assistant experience in collegiate recreation programming
- 2 years of direct experience with:
- Student personnel supervision at the collegiate recreation level
- Implementation and management of group fitness programs and small group training
- Management and supervision of all related fitness equipment and spaces
- Leading a variety of group fitness class formats
- Nationally Accredited Certification in Group Fitness Instruction
- Facilitation experience – including but not limited to teaching instructional courses, leading in-services, etc.
- Experience personal training
Required Certifications or Licensures
Must have or be eligible to obtain within the first 90 day of employment
- American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor
- American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Adult, Infant, and Child certification
