Job Title: Consumer Repossessions/Collections Specialist

Job Overview:

A Consumer Repossessions/Collections Specialist is responsible for helping individuals and families who are at risk of losing their homes/ or property due to foreclosure/repossession. The counselor works with clients to assess their financial situation, develop a plan to avoid foreclosure and negotiate with lenders on their behalf. The Debt Counselor also provides financial education and counseling to clients to help them avoid future financial difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meet with clients to assess their financial situation and determine the root cause of their financial difficulties.
• Develop a customized plan for clients to avoid foreclosure, which may include negotiating with lenders, refinancing options, or debt consolidation.
• Provide financial education and counseling to clients to help them manage their finances and avoid future financial difficulties.
• Act as a liaison between clients and lenders, negotiating on behalf of clients to find solutions that work for both parties.
• Monitor and track progress of clients' financial situations to ensure that the agreed-upon plan is working and adjust as needed.
• Manage a portfolio of delinquent accounts and make outbound calls to customers to negotiate payment arrangements.
• Identify and resolve issues that may impede payment, such as billing disputes, account discrepancies, or financial hardship.
• Work with customers to establish payment plans, monitor payments, and take appropriate actions to minimize losses to the bank.
• Ensure that all communication with customers is documented in accordance with bank policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with other departments within the bank, such as customer service and legal, to resolve complex issues.
• Stay up-to-date on industry regulations and best practices related to collections.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or degree preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in collections or a related field.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,000.00 per year

Education:

• Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

• Collections: 3 years (Preferred)
• Foreclosure counseling: 2 years (Preferred)
• Debt Counseling: 2 years (Preferred)
• repossessions counseling: 2 years (Preferred)
