Position Description
·The project manager (PM) is the primary point of contact for all project-related matters, including technical aspects of contract performance and management of company and subcontracted resources. The following represents routine tasks performed by the PM:
· Project planning and execution to include guidance and oversight of all pre-construction, construction, and project closeout activities.
· Ensure MVL's quality control manual, safety policies, and cost control methods are implemented consistently and transparently for all contracted tasks and functions.
· Perform all project-related contract and subcontract administration, including identifying and resolving any performance, delivery, cost, or schedule issues and all contract-related modifications.
· Maintain positive relationships with clients, designers, and the subcontractor community through effective written and oral communication.
· Establish a filing system and maintain project-related contract files.
· Schedule management to include developing the project schedule and ensuring resources are aligned with the schedule and related tasks
· Subcontractors' performance monitoring and control to achieve program/project objectives of safe and timely completion of work within the budget. Subcontract administration shall be done in coordination with the MVL policies.
· Support company financial goals such as profitability, the retirement of risk, unbilled mitigation, and receivables tracking.
· Coordination, supervision, and management of MVL project staff.
· Collaborate with the MVL estimating and procurement personnel for buy-out and purchasing.
· Review and evaluate subcontractor proposals for adherence to project plans and specifications
· Routine communications and internal reporting on project-related activities
Preferred Skills/Capabilities/Experience:
· 5+ years leading estimating for commercial, industrial, and/or federal construction projects.
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in different stages of development.
· Analytical skills (critical)
· Leadership skills; ability to supervise and mentor others; strong interpersonal skills.
· Understand the different trades and the scopes of work associated with the various trades.
· Familiarity and experience creating construction project schedules (preferred)
· Strong ability to read and understand technical drawings, including Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, and Civil drawings.
· Knowledge of the CSI Master Format 2014
· Familiarity and experience with prime contract and subcontract management
· OSHA 30 certified
· Able to read and interpret proposal documents and contract conditions to summarize the proposal requirements and related costs
· Hands-on experience leading project teams
· Team player with a collaborative attitude
· US Government construction project experience is preferred
· College Degree in construction or engineering field (preferred, but not required).
