JOB SUMMARY:

The Communications Specialist is responsible for the overall creation, interpretation/editing, approval, and release of communications to assigned banner team members. This role works directly with leaders across the Company to ensure all communications to the banner are aligned with corporate objectives, banner-specific style/format, and released at the appropriate time and with complete accuracy. Maintains a high level of confidentiality as this position has visibility to confidential/proprietary and time-sensitive documents.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Partners with support center leaders on appropriate messaging and distribution channel for all banner specific communications including emails, tasks, internal social media, newsfeed posts, and web-ready infographics. Responsible for creating new banner content, updating and editing existing or provided banner content, design/layout, and final approval of assigned banner communications. Ensures all communications released to the banner include correct terminology and formatting.
  • Ensure all communications are released to banner team members at the appropriate time. Makes judgements on timing based on the Communications Blackout Calendar and major selling periods throughout the year.
  • Partners with Corporate communications and other banner communication specialists to maintain the Signet Style Guide. Participates in meetings and discussions with support center leaders to make necessary updates to the Style Guide throughout the year.
  • Responsible for effective interdepartmental relationships and communications on all new banner initiatives and updates to existing banner initiatives. Collaborates with Corporate Communications team and banner-specific peers to ensure seamless cross-training and workload support.
  • Serves as point of content for feedback (written, phone, social media, etc.), from banner team members through communicated feedback channels.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Business or other related field

Required or Acceptable Job-Related Experience: Excellent writing, editing, grammar and proofreading skills (print and electronic media) to communicate written material and complex information clearly and concisely. Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in emergency situations.

Years of Job-Related Experience Required: 2+ years of corporate communications experience; retail experience

Technical/Other Skills Required: Proficient in the use of PC software tools for communications, presentations and reports, including O365 apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (preferred). Knowledge and experience with project management skills, understanding of corporate and field initiatives and processes, understanding of page layout/design principles, strong ability to build and maintain partnerships across an organization, willingness to be agile and capable of change with the needs of the business.
