Job Description:
The Collections Specialist for Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) is an unclassified position in Financial Operations responsible for managing the collections operations for the department. The Financial Operations section of PTS is responsible for processing the day-to-day financial transactions for an annual auxiliary budget of $13M. This position will be responsible for partnering with LSU Payroll, Bursar Operations, the Louisiana Attorney General's Office, and other LSU-affiliated organizations and customers to fulfill the collections functions. The incumbent must work in a team environment, possess attention to detail skills, have the ability to follow up on issues and projects, ensures timely transactions, and foster ethical conduct. This position will report to the Manager of Financial Operations, working closely with the Assistant Director of Financial Operations and other PTS leadership to achieve operational goals and objectives.
Job Responsibilities
50% Manage a portfolio of delinquent accounts and take necessary actions to resolve outstanding balances. Ensures collection operations are performed in compliance with all governing laws, rules, and regulations. Serves as the liaison with the Louisiana Attorney General's Office. Utilize the department's system of record to accurately and timely collect any past due balances. Develops or prepares monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc financial reports on the state of the department's outstanding debt.
20% Manages the Parking payroll deduction revenue collection operations. Serves as the liaison with LSU Payroll and other Affiliated Organizations related to payroll pay plans. Reviews and resolves any payroll deduction revenue collection discrepancies. Assists with performing internal reviews to support departmental operations and communicating findings to PTS management. Aids in identifying processes and innovations to promote efficiencies and business initiatives.
10% Develops and maintains all departmental invoices for provided services. Utilizes T2 Systems, Workday, and other assigned department-specific systems to support the department’s needs for reporting, reconciliation, and auditing. Assists with identifying process improvements, including the creation of standard work and ad-hoc reports, tools, and Excel dashboards.
10% Responsible for understanding the entire business and financial operations for PTS. Support the department’s financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems. Assist other finance office employees during busy times and on special projects.
10% Performs all other assigned duties requested by the Director/Assistant Director/Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field. Experience in finance, accounting, business, or economics. A firm understanding of accounting, budgeting, and financial management. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field. Three years experience in finance, accounting, business, or economics. Experience in higher education. Experience working with management preparing reports or analysis. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products, specifically Excel.
Special Qualifications:
Extensive overtime may be required as needed.
