Class A CDL Driver


Our company is looking for an experienced Class A Driver, for our Newington, CT location. This is a hands-on position that requires critical thinking and mechanically inclined individuals. On time and in uniform is a daily requirement for this fast-paced, exciting position.


Under the direct supervision of the Logistics Manager, the Class A driver will be responsible for the safe and reliable transportation of miscellaneous and light structural steel.


Essential Functions:

  • Qualified in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) to operate assigned vehicles in local, intrastate and interstate moves.
  • Must transport heavy and light duty steel, aluminum, and stainless specialty items.
  • Must assist in loading and unloading trucks with equipment and machinery.
  • Operate a 2-ton to 10 ton forklift to load and unload equipment from assigned truck.
  • Ability to bind/tie-down flatbed loads.
  • Responsible for strapping your own loads, safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure all items out for delivery have marks/tags accordingly as required.
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections to ensure safety.
  • Maintain and keep equipment clean and presentable.
  • Perform other yard duties as requested.
  • Flexible to changing routines in order to accomplish the common goals of the organization.
  • Keep Safety First.


Required skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Must possess a valid Class A operator’s license with at least 3 - 5 years’ experience
  • No license suspensions in the last 3 years.
  • No more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years.
  • Ability to meet DOT requirements.
  • Physically capable of lifting/pushing/pulling 70 pounds unassisted.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, drug and screening and background check.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Maintain a positive can-do, service-oriented attitude, and detailed-oriented.
  • Provide excellent customer service skills with customers and field office personnel.
  • Work well independently and in a team atmosphere.
  • Communicate well with management.
