Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Music or equivalent education and experience
● Demonstrated vocal and piano competency
● Strong oral and written communication ability with both school aged children and their parents/guardians
● Availability once a week during the evening for rehearsal
● Availability twice a year to oversee performance, typically on a weekend, plus any additional performances that may occur throughout the year (with prior approval from Board and Director)

● Ability to accommodate and address diverse needs during rehearsal
● Passion for teaching youth with a strong ability to lead, support and inspire
● Must pass a background check

Job Description:
Seeking an artistic director who exhibits the energy to provide early childhood arts education to children in the local community. The program receives students from surrounding areas of Royal Oak. Students will learn to sing properly with correct diction and fundamental music theory appropriate for their age. The Artistic Director is responsible for the planning, preparation and execution of all creative activities and events related to the Royal Oak Children’s Choir (ROCC). The Artistic Director will serve as an instructor for all singing members of the ROCC, will seek out interns as applicable and deemed appropriate by the Board, and locate accompanists as needed, with Board approval. The Artistic Director is responsible for all choir singers while in the care of ROCC. The Artistic Director will participate in the singer’s music/vocal technique and staging development while serving as the lead.

Responsibilities:
● Set all performances, including but not limited to: choreographing, staging, dancing, acting, lighting, props/costumes, etc.
● Oversee the direction of ROCC performances.
● Execute the instruction of healthy vocal practices and performance technique.
● Collaborate with the Board regarding auditions, rehearsals, performances, and invitationals (unless previous arrangements are made).
● Select music and create weekly lesson plans for rehearsals and provide to the Board at least one month in advance.
● Arrive at all venues a minimum of 15 minutes prior to call time. This includes but is not limited to: rehearsals, concerts, auditions, and invitational performances.
● Attend Fundraisers and Social Events sponsored by ROCC, unless otherwise approved by the Board.
● Attend all scheduled Board meetings.
● Select, develop and present an annual theme for the Choir to the Board at the July Board meeting.
● Select the music, teaching plan, and schedule for the year. These will be discussed at the July Board meeting.
● Request the order of music and tracks as needed within the allotted budget.

● Be responsible for all environments in which the ROCC functions. This would include, but is not limited to: cleanliness and neatness of all rented and non-rented spaces and the return of all rented spaces to the way it was found, if not better.

● During optional Tour years, if a tour is selected, the Artistic Director will be point of contact with the Tour Company.

● Maintain open communication with the Board regarding any behavior or attendance issues.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
