The company’s work spans a number of projects, all with the aim of advancing precision health by closing the gap between research & care.
Reporting to the President of Product Development, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will play a key role in the success of Verily's product development programs and ensure that the product portfolio complies with medical, regulatory and legislative requirements. The CMO will be an external-facing leader, who regularly represents the “why” of our products, making the connection between Verily product/service offerings and the humanity for which it serves.
The CMO will also lead Verily’s Expertise function within the Product division. This function comprises Clinical Informatics, Clinical Science, Human Subjects Research, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Strategic Affairs, Quantitative Sciences, and the Health Equity Center of Excellence. The CMO will work closely across the Product division and other functions within the organization including, legal, technology and commercial.
Possible locations of the role are Boston, Dallas, Raleigh or South San Francisco.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and execute all clinical expertise sub functions (i.e., Clinical Informatics, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, etc.).
- Provide clinical and scientific input into product development activities.
- Identify and establish relationships with leading KOLs.
- Partner closely with the Regulatory and Strategic Affairs teams on the regulatory strategy of the company.
- Ensure clinical activities/programs/products meet required quality and safety standards.
- Provide technical expertise related to medical review and serve as the signatory of all clinical documents submitted to regulatory agencies.
- Participate in meetings with regulatory agencies as needed.
- Build trustful relationships with medical and scientific advisors, building and maintaining relationships consistent with commercial and development objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical degree essential, with higher degree desirable.
- 15+ years of clinical experience, including a senior leadership role.
- Deep scientific and regulatory understanding of development of life sciences products.
- Deep understanding of evidence generation, clinical trials, and research.
- Strong network and credibility with opinion leaders in the medical community in both academia and industry.
- Experience working in Pharma, Biotech, Devices, Diagnostics, or Health Tech.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate across multiple functions, build effective relationships and influence the decisions of a cross-functional team.
Preferred qualifications:
- Entrepreneurial drive and ability to operate in an innovative and growth-oriented environment.
- Experience with RWE/RWD and digital health technologies/products.
