A Certified Family Support Partner (CFSP) is a person who has experience caring for a child with a mental health disorder. This experience provides a base for connecting, mentoring, partnership, and credibility with the family to enable the Family Support Partner to work with parents and children in a way much different than other professionals on the team.

Responsibilities – Community Programs Family Support

  • Solve problems with ambition and pragmatism
  • Work to achieve organizational goals
  • Advocating for the needs of the family
  • Teaching family members and the member how to develop self-advocacy and problem-solving skills
  • Mentoring the member and family to instill a sense of hope
  • Role modeling behaviors, attitudes and thinking skills needed for resiliency and coping
  • Helping family members identify and utilize their strengths
  • Role modeling the facilitation of collaborative relationships
  • Teaching the member and family about causes of disorders and importance of adhering to treatment; utilizing evidence-based interventions that assist in meeting goals
  • Assist the family in identifying and connecting to services and community resources
  • Assist family members in articulating their needs and goals in preparing for meetings as well as service plans
  • Provide family-based programs such as classes on parenting special needs children
  • Teach caregivers how to document all activities that pertain to the child’s appointments, meetings, needs, goals, and strengths
  • Assist in preparing for the child’s transition to adulthood

Competencies and Qualifications

  • Ability to be flexible with scheduling and to perform and prioritize multiple functions and tasks
  • Exemplary time management skills
  • Be able to work independently, follow verbal and written instructions, and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortability navigating electronic documents and electronic systems required to perform job duties
  • Maintain strong boundaries and understand cultural diversity
  • Have a strong overview of mental illnesses and their effects on the brain.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information within HIPAA guidelines and organizational policies
  • Adhere to Certified Family Support Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct
  • Value working with underserved and marginalized populations and appreciates diversity
  • Adherence to mandatory abuse reporting laws
  • A mature attitude and sensitivity to populations dealing with mental health challenges
  • Submit records of weekly interventions, initial recovery plans, and quarterly recovery plan reviews in a timely manner
  • Attend monthly individual and group supervision with clinician
  • Attend periodic team, department and agency wide staff meetings
  • Strong communication skills, basic keyboarding skills
  • Must be over 18 years of age
  • Possess a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Be able to successfully complete drug screening, background check, and I-9
  • Have received initial Certified Family Support Certification in the State of Idaho, which includes 40 hours of training
  • Meet IDAPA requirements stated in IDAPA guidelines 16.07.19 section 300.
  • Have a current Idaho driver's license and ability to meet insurance requirements for personal vehicle

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.18 - $17.85 per hour
