Shakespeare's Corner Shoppe & Afternoon Tea in San Diego, CA is looking for a Catering Lead and Pastry dough baker to join our 20+ person strong team. We are located in Mission Hills - between Little Italy and Old Town. We are a British bakery, grocer & tearoom and we make all our food items in house. We have been in business for over 20 years.

Our ideal candidate must be self-driven, motivated, and reliable. Kitchen experience and/or culinary schooling is preferred but not necessary. Approximately 30-38 hours per week. MUST be able to work weekends.

Suggested schedule: Saturday & Sunday for catering and to-go orders (weekends shifts start between 6 & 8 am depending on the orders), Tuesday & Thursday for making pastry and sausage rolls (1 pm-9 pm).

Base wage plus tips can be earned on to-go's/catering. Commission on catering orders.

Responsibilities

• Fulfilling catering orders of sandwiches, desserts, and savories.
• Making afternoon teas to-go!
• Baking savory pies, pasties, sausage rolls, for the warmer or orders.
• Making shortcrust pastry for pasties and pies.
• Keeping spaces clean, doing dishes, and other basic kitchen requirements.
• Answering the phones and taking reservations.

Qualifications

• At least one year’s baking experience in a business and/or culinary school training is preferred. Alternatively, catering experience is helpful too! We do extensive training as all our menu items are traditional and made & baked in a British way.
