What You'll Do:
1. General Carpenter Shop Responsibilities
- Utilize maintenance software to complete requested work orders
- Be self motivated and have the ability to work independently
- Accurately track and maintain time and material costs
- Communicate with faculty, staff and students
- Assist in maintaining the safety and efficiency of all carpenter shop operations
- Use a variety of tools, processes, materials, and equipment in completing assigned projects and work orders
2. Daily Jobs Task
- Implement and develop standard maintenance procedures
- Perform repairs on flooring and wall tile
- Perform repairs on furniture and assorted fixtures
- Investigate and perform minor repairs on building leaks
- Build shelves, cabinets, and other specialty items
- Perform repairs on commercial doors, windows, and hardware
- Perform rough and finish carpentry work for renovation and new construction
- Install, tape, and finish drywall
- Perform basic paint/plaster/drywall tasks
- Perform concrete and masonry work
- Communicate with outside contractors
- Work with other trades people to complete task and projects
3. Support Campus Events
- Coordinate work with various campus offices, departments and individuals
- Set up seating, shells, risers, stages for special events
4. Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community
5. Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle
6. Perform other related duties as assigned
Shift:
- Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. overtime hours as required; travel up to 10% of work schedule, which includes local (Twin Cities metro area) travel.
- Flexible work arrangements, may be proposed and are subject to approval by HR and relevant supervisors
- Occasional evening and weekend hours as required
Who You Are:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of rough carpentry
- 2+ years in finished carpentry
- Experience managing small crews
