Job description
Provide professional holistic patient care service as a member of the primary care team following established standards and practices. Perform routine tasks necessary for efficient patient care and assist providers as needed.
Duties include but are not limited to:
· Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
· Participates in nursing care essential to the assessment, promotion, maintenance, and restoration of patients’ health and wellness.
· Observes, records, and reports patients’ condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians and nurse manager.
· Maintains timely flow of patients.
· Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination.
· Assists the provider
· Screens patients for appropriate information, assess vital signs and report appropriately.
· Arranges for patient testing
· Performs laboratory and diagnostic procedures (i.e. PAP’s, venipunctures, urinalysis, glucose assessments and EKG’s)
· Performs in house lab test (i.e. Strep, Flu, UA)
· Performs procedure as instructed, dressing wounds, staple removal
· Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions-- patient education
· Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
· Maintains appropriate documentation
· Posts tests and examination results.
· Make provider aware of abnormal tests and examination results.
· Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials.
· Prepares list of medical supplies needed.
· Screens and refers pharmaceutical representatives.
· Gives guidance and counsel to other clinic staff as needed.
· Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
· Handles confidential matters concerning clinic policies and practices in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
· Maintains strictest confidentiality.
· Maintains infection control within the center.
· Performs related work as required and/or assigned.
