About the role
The automotive mechanic is primarily responsible for the service and repair of Thiess’ fleet of vehicles and ancillary equipment stationed at the mine site. As our next light vehicle mechanic advisor to proudly represent our maintenance team, you will live for challenges and thrive on the variety of work available. What you’d be doing
- Perform general maintenance, servicing, breakdowns, and component changeouts for on-site Ford pickups
- Comply with all safety, health and environmental rules and procedures
- While meeting safety standards, work with your team to maximize productivity and minimize downtime

- All necessary tools will be provided
- Work schedule: 12-hour shifts, 5:30am – 5:30pm, Monday through Friday (estimated 20 hours of overtime, 1.5x pay, per week)
- Hotel, per diem, and drive mileage reimbursement offered for non-local employees
- Working at high elevation with cold, snowy conditions during winter months
What we’re looking for
It’s required to have
- 4+ years experience in general maintenance, breakdowns, component change outs and servicing of Ford pickups
- Experience all vehicle systems including wheels, power, brakes, engine, fuel, air conditioning and filtering, cooling, electrical, emissions, and cosmetics
- The upmost priority for health and safety for yourself and team members, with the integrity to speak out when something seems or looks unsafe.
It’s beneficial to have
- Trade school, or technical training/certification in automotive mechanics
- Experience working in the mining or heavy earth moving industry
- Experience working at high altitude
