Job Summary

Bright Farms is adding an Associate Greenhouse Engineer to its team of talented professionals. The Associate Greenhouse Engineer, as part of the Agricultural Sciences team, will develop and manage technical improvements in existing and future greenhouses.

Job Responsibilities:

• Understand safe work practices and exemplify workplace safety to other team members.
• Become OSHA 10 hour certified.
• Work with growers and other greenhouse personnel to identify and resolve technical issues.
• Work with Greenhouse Systems Engineers on controls systems and growing system improvements.
• Work with and learn from senior engineering team members in areas of climate controls, electrical systems, and process controls systems.
• Become familiar with wastewater process systems and understand the life cycle of all materials that enter and leave the greenhouse.
• Become familiar with the design and operation of HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, humidification, dehumidification, shading, lighting, and related controls for existing Venlo style and new semi-closed climate chamber style greenhouses.
• Assist in the development of standards for greenhouse infrastructure.
• Work with internal and external engineers, project managers, and construction professionals to create and/or modify design parameters.
• Communicate directly with internal customers to understand operational needs and provide ongoing support for the operation of greenhouse systems to achieve maximum yield results.
• Develop and manage individual projects as requested for existing facilities.

Job Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• 0-2 year’s experience in greenhouse environmental controls in both Venlo style and semi-closed climate chamber style greenhouse.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Possess a strong work ethic and be committed to making a difference every day.
• A clear communicator able to communicate with personnel at any level of the organization.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Use a hands-on approach in problem solving.

BrightFarms PEN greenhouse, Selinsgrove, PA.

Travel:

Up to 50% travel.
