Job description
Candidate(s) will serve as Assistant Press Secretary. Primary responsibilities are to monitor news reports and prepare and edit daily press digests; process and respond to press inquiries from local and community media on issues concerning the agency and transportation matters in the City; issue press releases and advisories to media distribution lists; and assist in the preparation of releases, advisories and news conferences.
Minimum Qual Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills
Preference given to those with experience in journalism, public affairs, and/or communications, knowledge of New York City’s political structure. Strong writing, editing, communication and interpersonal skills needed.
