Job Summary
The College of Engineering is seeking a Assistant Director of Student Support (ADSS) to support programs in the Office of Undergraduate Affairs (UGA). Reporting to the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Affairs, the ADSS provides administrative support for the College of Engineering’s annual Commencement Ceremony; the Academic Center for Engineers (ACE) tutoring center; the Engineering Learning Community (ELC); undergraduate learning assistants in ENGR courses; summer programs; student organizations; and other events and student support programs. The ADSS also supports the operations of the Undergraduate Advising Center (UAC), including reporting, student dismissal and reinstatement, recurring and ad hoc meetings, and freshman scheduling. Work on other projects may be required on occasion.
Essential Functions
- Manage front office/work study students employees
- Academic Center for Engineers (ACE) Support
- Serves as Work Director of ACE Coordinator.
- Hires, trains and supports ACE tutors.
- Manages the ACE spaces.
- Leads Engineering Learning Community (ELC) programs and events
- Organizes First Year Study Groups
- Hires, trains and supervises undergraduate Learning Assistants in ENGR courses
- Approves timesheets of undergraduate workers including:
- ACE Coordinator (co-op)
- ENGR course Undergraduate Learning Assistants
- UAC work study students.
- Supports summer and special population programs run by the College of Engineering.
- Corresponds with the College’s student organizations and SAFAC.
- Supports fall term block scheduling of new students.
- Represent the College of Engineering at meetings, events and on committees.
- Coordinate with various campus offices and departments to provide superior support to students.
- In close coordination with Office of the Dean, plans and executes College of Engineering Commencement ceremony.
- Leads addition event organization and implementation:
- Celebration of Senior Design
- Welcome Week
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
- 2-3 years’ relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Highly organized, independent, and detail-oriented
- Ability to work productively in a fast-paced environment with a wide array of people
- Familiarity with event planning and data reporting preferred
- Proficient in use of Office-365 applications
Physical Demands
- Typically sitting at a desk/table
