- Plan and implement all aspects of programming and instruction for students based on their educational needs.
- Evaluate student performance using formal and informal assessment activities.
- Process IEPs (Individualized Educational Plan) as federally mandated that outline the necessary supports, accommodations, and goals for each individual child encompassing academic and behavioral areas.
- Work with IEP Team to identify specific student needs.
- Plan and carry out IEPs.
- Regularly work with a team of professionals to give and receive feedback.
- Develop and implement behavioral classroom structures and behavioral programs for students, including positive behavior interventions and behavior intervention plans.
- Plan and carry out classroom activities, community-based instruction, and other related educational experiences.
- Consult and coordinate instruction, behavioral management, and other appropriate student services with other personnel who serve students with disabilities.
- Prepare and maintain lesson plans and documentation of student performance.
- Assist with planning curriculum, lessons, and teaching methods.
- Evaluate, assess, and screen students.
- Planning to meet individual students and program needs.
- Establish and maintain appropriate records, reports, and procedures including, but not limited to lesson plans, educational records, behavioral data, IEPC forms, classroom observation records, and student progress on IEP goals/objectives.
- Provide direction and information to teacher assistant(s).
- Travel to meet job requirements.
- Conduct parent/teacher conferences.
- Participate/coordinate IEPT and other meetings as requested/required.
- Provide staff development and parent/guardian training as appropriate.
- Participate in IEPT, MET, CAT, and other meetings as appropriate.
- Use various software packages for communication and documentation purposes.
- Maintain regular consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Maintain a professional personal appearance.

SUMMARY: Implement educational and behavioral programs for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise students and teacher assistants assigned to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Classroom.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must meet Michigan Department of Education requirements for full/temporary approval as a Teacher of the Autistic Impaired.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, students, parents, and other personnel as appropriate.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Must have essential technology skills, i.e. skilled at using a PC computer, laptop, assistive communication devices/technology, and other educational technology and software. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication. Must be able to meet multiple demands from several people. Must be organized and meet timeline requirements.
