The Opportunity

As an Application Developer supporting our Digital Delivery Service (DDS) Division, you will work closely with internal and external clients and serve as both a consultant and solutions provider. You will help architect, define, and build solutions to meet business needs. You will oversee the testing, quality assurance and post rollout troubleshooting and enhancements for applications. You should demonstrate a willingness to seek novel solutions to technology and business problems and the flexibility to acquire the necessary skills for implementation.

To successfully build complex technical solutions for our clients, you will need expertise in one or more of the following: programming with PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Zend, or Symfony; programming in the .NET framework; working with JavaScript frameworks like Angular/Node/React/Vue/Nux; experience working with backend databases from MySQL and PostgreSQL to AWS RDS and Aurora; and experience designing and building APIs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of complex applications using the appropriate approach and technology, while directing the project development team.
  • Create technical application designs by documenting process flows; mapping functional requirements to technical requirements; creating database diagrams; and creating application prototypes, where applicable.
  • Estimate the level of effort required to complete technical work. Plan technical work so that it may be completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinate quality control activities by developing test plans, executing tests, and facilitating transition to end-users for testing and signoff.
  • Build web applications using predefined template structures to respond to client needs.
  • Participate in client needs assessments, develop strategy and information architecture, including sitemaps and wireframes.
  • Support clients’ technical issues with web applications.
  • Act as liaison with internal partners and individual users to ensure positive web experience.
  • Serve as project leader and/or supervise other technical staff on project teams, as required.
  • Ensure that all documents meet established content standards.
  • Manage and mentor junior staff.
  • Display strong verbal and written communication skills.

What We Value

  • Bachelor’s Degree +5 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree +3 years, PHD +0 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree + 9 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + 7 years of relevant experience, or PhD + 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise working with PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Zend, and/or Symfony.
  • Expertise working with the .Net Framework.
  • Experience working with JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, Node, React, Vue, or Nux
  • Familiarity designing and building APIs.
  • Experience working with backend databases from MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • AWS experience (EC2, RDS, S3, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience working with Version control repositories like Bitbucket or GitHub.
  • Task management in software development tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • A desire to write re-usable, readable code using the most up to date industry standards.
  • Effective communication skills, particularly in translating perceived needs into technical requirements.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $91,408.75 to $146,254.01 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
