Job Title: Starbucks Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a primary contact for Safeway customers, the Starbucks Manager provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. The Starbucks Manager is held accountable for the department’s results in providing superior service, increasing sales, improving gains, and containing costs. Supervises Starbucks Clerks, oversees new and ongoing training and compliance with all Safeway policies and procedures and Starbucks Corporate policies and procedures. Writes schedule, orders and takes inventory. The Starbucks
Manager brews coffee, tea, using coffee urns, drip or vacuum coffee makers, teapots, drink mixers, and other kitchen equipment. Performs various duties to assist in filling customer’s orders. Cleans and polishes utensils and equipment used in beverage preparation and serves coffee. Rotates product and removes out-of-date product throughout the day. Responsible for maintaining accurate temperature logs and all other logs required in Starbucks department. Operates cash register to accept payment and make change. The position is hourly non-exempt. The Starbucks Manager reports to the Store Manager, 1st and 2nd Assistant Manager, Person in Charge, Starbucks Field
Merchandiser and Corporate Starbucks District Manager.
JOB DUTIES:
The Starbucks Manager is generally responsible for completing the following job duties:
1. Provides customer service as defined by the employer within the scope of the position and within company policy.
2. Train, schedule and supervise Starbucks workers to ensure optimum staffing patterns for the Starbucks department.
3. Speak with customers to resolve problems with sales, dissatisfaction with service or product, or other problems related to the operation of the Starbucks department.
4. Practice and promote safe work habits and maintain the same for customers.
5. Perform inventory and order necessary product and supplies to maintain adequate inventory.
6. Prepare, brew and serve beverages using coffeemakers, blenders, and espresso machines.
7. Operate electronic cash register to total customers’ final bill. Receive payment for the customer purchase and count back correct change.
8. Maintain cleanliness of coffee service and café area of the store including counters, dishes, floors, and mats. Empty trash.
9. Perform temperature checks as required.
10. Sets up and maintains displays in coffee area.
11. Replace stock in preparation area from supply area.
12. Monitor inter-office mail.
13. Oversees and ensures correctness of all compliance audit issues.
14. Make signs, tags and displays as needed.

JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to follow company customer service procedures. Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
2. Must meet the minimum requirements to interview and pass interview for promotion.

4. Must have the ability to read, write and communicate in English.
5. Ability to understand and follow instructions.

9. Ability to multi task while working under stress and time constraints.
10. Ability to work varied shifts over a 24 hour operation.
11. Knowledge of and ability to prepare different coffee and tea drinks.
12. Ability to memorize drink formulas and PLU codes.
13. Knowledge of shrink programs and related audits.
14. Starbucks Manager must pass food safety test(s) and all other required tests.
15. Reports to work in proper uniform per company policy.
16. Desired: Prior management experience. Previous experience as a Starbucks Clerk.

Starbucks staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Inside: 95% Outside: 5%
Temperature Extremes: Varies depending on store. May need to walk into freezers and refrigerators. Floor is concrete and tile.
Chemicals: Constant (mild detergents and glass cleaner)
MACHINES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Cash register, grocery carts, box knife, blender, coffee maker, spoons, cups, pitchers and other utensils, coffee grinder, espresso machine, ice machine, refrigerator, flavored syrup and coffee, urn pumps, shot glasses, pens, pencils, six wheeled cart, numeric key board, spray bottle, rags, and telephone/ intercom.

Occasionally uses stepstool or ladder to reach upper shelves. May need to climb stairs to second floor break room/offices/restrooms.
Trunk Functions:
Frequent neck rotation and bending of head, bending/stooping, and twisting.
Occasionally squatting, kneeling and crouching.
Upper Extremity:
Constant handling/grasping and fine finger manipulation.
Vision:
Use of peripheral vision and depth perception to move around crowed store area while pushing loaded carts and moving around crowed work area. Near vision used to read displays, price sheets, codes, and instructions.
Hearing:
To converse with customers, provide service, answer questions and conduct business.
To receive instruction from other employees and supervisors, to receive information via telephone, intercom or IDL.
Speech:
To converse with customers, answer questions and conduct business. To page other employees over intercom, give instructions, and provide Superior Customer Service.
