This role reports into the Westinghouse AM Center of Excellence (AM CoE). In it you will lead the deployment of innovative and differentiated metallic AM solutions for nuclear power generation applications globally throughout Westinghouse. This role will lead deployment projects by building strong relationships with internal customers, identifying candidate applications, and developing and qualifying processes, products, and standards that solve customer needs. Further, you will serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for AM process, qualification, and production.

Your Day to Day:
  • Perform business case and design feasibility studies on potential AM applications.
  • Partner with design and engineering teams, leveraging DfAM principles, to develop new material solutions and differentiated AM designs.
  • Understand and characterize process stability limits.
  • Help disposition AM-related nonconformances.
  • Manage the AM materials portfolio including identifying new materials based on emergent application requirements, developing test and inspection protocols to demonstrate material properties, qualifying new materials, developing code cases, and identifying the correct alloy for specific applications.
  • Create and lead machine, process, and component qualifications and standards that comply to NQA-1 and ISO9001 quality standards for safety-related reactor components.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to distill requirements from various stakeholders into actionable deliverables, ensuring that the final product meets all requirements and is delivered on-time.
  • Work through and expand Westinghouse’s AM supply chain to meet global demand, business deadlines, and quality requirements.
  • Lead the creation of AM use guidelines, code cases, and internal and industry standards.
  • Stay abreast of AM advancements in design, materials, and technology relevant to Westinghouse’s applications and drive adoption of new technologies and materials.
  • Serve as AM SME for topics including DfAM, materials, process development, qualification, and production and lead training and consulting to internal customers.
Required to bes successful in the role:
  • A strong fundamental understanding of and hands-on experience with L-PBF including parameter development, build file preparation, and printer operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working and leading in a matrix organization with various contributors and stakeholders.
  • B.S. in aerospace, mechanical, materials science, metallurgical, welding, or equivalent engineering degree.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience, such as AM L-PBF development and production.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D CAD, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • 10+ years relevant industry experience
  • M.S. or PhD in relevant field
  • High level of proficiency with additive design, support generation, and software (Siemens NX or similar)
  • Proficiency with additive simulation software (Simufact or similar)
  • Proficiency with additive pre-processing software (Materialise Magics or similar, EOS Print)
  • Experience in highly regulated fields such as aerospace, medical, or defense
  • Experience with various AM modalities, particularly Directed Energy Deposition and Binder Jetting
  • Proficiency with statistical process control.
  • Experience characterizing, developing, and qualifying materials in AM, particularly steels, nickel alloys, and custom materials.
  • Experience leading technology development projects, measuring technical progress, and managing resources and budgets.
