THE POSITION:
Supervises, coordinates, and participates in the maintenance of school district and Marin County Office of
Education financial accounting records. Provides support for school district accounting personnel and Office of Education staff. Utilizes software accounting system to perform technical accounting work including the preparation of financial reports.
SALARY: Starting Salary After 6 months Annually Thereafter
$8,408/Mo. $8,828/Mo. $9,269/$9,732/$10,219/Mo.
BENEFITS:

TYPICAL DUTIES:
Responsible for overseeing all cash transactions for Marin school districts including but not limited to: allocations of state and federal apportionments and deposits. Reviews or prepares reconciliations, researches outstanding items, and communicates resolutions to district business staff in a professional manner. Acts as the liaison between school districts and the County of Marin Treasurers Office. Processes vendor warrants for MCOE and districts using MCOE’s financial system. Reviews vendor payment data for
1099 reporting compliance and participates in the production of 1099’s. Participates in aspects of payroll including but not limited to: auditing of payroll and retirement data, remitting payroll tax payments, coordinates with third party vendors to ensure incoming and outgoing files are scheduled and processed in payroll runs, remits employee contributions by specified due dates. Participates in trainings and may assist in the creation of agenda or materials. Must be able to multi-task and understand how to prioritize work.
May perform other related work as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or formal accounting education equivalent to two years of college training in accounting (A.A.), including courses in governmental accounting and computer applications, or four years of increasingly responsible accounting positions in a California Public School District or County Office of
Education.
Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience in the administration of a full range accounting system, two years in the accounting office of a school district or County Office of Education preferred; hands on knowledge of spreadsheet applications and ability to design analytical worksheets for use by staff.

Knowledge of: Principles and practices of accounting and bookkeeping including general ledger, fund accounting, program accounting, subsidiary ledger management and data processing; preparation of account reconciliations; State and local regulations applying to school district operations; supervision; principles of the California Education Code and Government Code.
Ability to: Apply principles of school district revenue, payroll, retirement, and accounting; provide financial analyses; evaluate recordkeeping systems, developing and implementing new systems as required; offer support and training to both staff and school district personnel; operate standard business office machines including computer and calculator.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employees are required to submit to a Department of Justice background check and provide proof of freedom from tuberculosis and vaccination of Measles and COVID-19.
