POSITION:

Summer Support Supervisor (Approximately 20 positions)


Summer Rising 2023 will feature both in-person and remote learning opportunities for high school and HSE students. High School Summer Rising teachers will be expected to conduct their duties in-person at their Summer Rising Site and will be expected to teach students who are attending in-person and remotely or a combination of in-person and remote students.


LOCATION:

Adult Education sites throughout the five boroughs


ELIGIBILITY:

NYCDOE Licensed Building Supervisor


SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and successful practice of varied instructional approaches including differentiate teaching strategies and group instruction.
  • Current supervisor with the New York City Department of Education.
  • Preferred experience as a supervisor in adult programs, and knowledge of NYS Education regulations as they pertain to Adult Education.
  • Experience interfacing with other supervisors, teachers, adult students and the general public on adult education.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must attend mandatory Professional Development. PD dates will be announced later.
  • Supervise Adult Basic Education, High School Equivalency, English as a Second Language, Trade and Technical and/or Business/Office Skills Training Programs at one or more sites.
  • Create and provide and professional development to OACE staff members.
  • Participate in paperwork day.
  • Oversee student recruitment, registration and testing.
  • Ensure that students are supported with High School Equivalency Testing.
  • Appraise Principal of all program concerns.
  • Collaborate with Principal to resolve program-related matters to include compliance.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • July 1, 2023- August 31, 2023 (up to maximum 200 hours)
  • Monday- Saturday, (Morning, Afternoon and Evening) 5 days| 4 days| 3 days | 2 days | 1 day

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.


SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
