Responsibilities:
· Evaluate and review new physical and logical design requirements and correlate with the recommendations provided by architects/vendors and address any gaps, when necessary.
· Review and certify the proposed project estimates, milestones and deliverables out of the assessment phase
· Provide On-call support for z/OS, Network & drive any z/OS related issue with respective.
· Lead software upgrades and maintenance activities.
· Diagnose and resolve errors in major operating systems and subsystem components (e.g., z/OS, CICS, DB2,JES2 system Z) and other critical required software
· Resolve complex systems integration issues including activities associated with various distributed platforms.
· Capture risk and gather the mitigation plan during any upgrades
· Coordinating the testing, troubleshooting, and modifying information systems so that they operate effectively
· Generate, publish and communicate Project progress
· Assuring all IT activities are performed within the parameters of applicable compliance, codes, and regulations.
· Evaluating technology risks in order to develop a disaster recovery and BCP
· Validate the archival or decommission plan proposed out of the assessment
Required Skills/Qualifications:
· 14+ years of work Experience with other mainframe architects and vendors, communicating project progress/status expectations, and reviewing deliverables
· Excellent understanding of System z architecture with understanding of Network architecture.
· Develop operational standards, provide technical assistance to application developers and operations personnel
· Strong experience with IBM z/OS operating system and subsystem Components
· Strong knowledge on Data center Migration including addressing Technical Show stopper during Datacenter Migration.
· Assists in evaluating and selecting major software and hardware subsystems for operational efficiency and to reduce operating costs
· Parallel Sysplex, SMPE, REXX, RMF, SMF, WLM, Understanding of System z architecture, zOSMF and zOSMF configuration and setup
· System parameters/parmlib maintenance
· Capable of planning and supporting Disaster recovery exercises
· Process client requests for system software modifications, Strong knowledge of all z/OS utilities
· Knowledge Catalog management, IBM system utilities, VTAM, TCPIP, RACF and GDPS
· Extensive experience with providing performance and tuning using monitoring tools (f. ex. z/VM Performance Monitor or other tools)
· Ability to support network configuration and maintenance
· Knowledge on DFSMS, DFSMShsm, Flashcopy, ICF Catalogs, HCD
· Experience with system indicators (logs, dumps, error) logs for pro-active management of system problems
· Experience in Coordinating with Vendor to complete the upgrades
· Business knowledge and Application understanding
Preferred Skills/Qualification:
· Good to have z/VM, zVSE and z/Linux
· Knowledge on z/OS Data Replication Strategy
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $140,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
