The City of Laramie Parks & Recreation Department is accepting applications for Youth Activities Specialist for our Adventure Kids program, which includes an afterschool program, summer camps, and special events. This position will begin with our Summer Camp program, which runs runs June 12 - August 11, 2023 with some training required prior to the start date.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work at the Laramie Community Recreation Center, in a team-teaching environment under the supervision of a Youth Activities Assistant and a Recreation Supervisor.
Be part of a team responsible for the safety and supervision of up to 80 children each day.
Plan, organize and teach enrichment activities of a recreational and educational nature for children, grades K-6.

QUALIFICATIONS (Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying):

Prior training and/or education relevant to working with children.
Experience working with children in a beyond-school setting.
Ability to guide children through general classroom management techniques, create enthusiasm and inspire learning.
Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions, common to youth activities.
Must be dependable, enjoy working with children, and be a team player.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, parents, co-workers, and other Recreation Center personnel.
Ability to work under direct and indirect supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written; and follow instructions.
First aid and CPR certification or willingness to complete provided training.
Working knowledge of basic computer programs.
