Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Work Week Manager located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska. Position closes Monday, May 29 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

This position will report to the Work Control Manager.

Position Summary

The Work Week Manager (WWM) is responsible for the overall scheduling, planning and implementation of their respective work week. As project manager for the work week they assume ownership ten weeks prior to implementation and are the single point contact for all coordination issues. In the actual work week the Work Week Manager serves as the agent of the Plant Manager in the field.


The Work Week Manager assumes the role as project manager for their assigned work week. This includes the responsibility for scheduling, overall planning and the implementation of each project work week. These positions are responsible for ensuring that the organization is prepared to implement their assigned week and that all intergroup coordination issues are resolved prior to that work week. These positions will provide leadership in the attainment of the Work Control Department charter of reducing the station corrective maintenance backlog, supporting Maintenance and Operations, increasing efficiency and reducing O&M costs.


The Work Week Manager maintains the CNS long-range work sequencing strategy including on-line LCO work windows, corrective maintenance and implementation of plant modifications. In addition, the WWM provides oversight for the Technical Specification surveillance program to ensure compliance with the CNS operating license.


The Work Week Manager assumes the responsibility for overall organization of Cycle schedule and coordinating all scheduled maintenance activities. The WWM is responsible for ensuring that the organization is aligned and prepared to implement general maintenance, on-line LCO's, and facilitates the T-proces.

Education, Training and Experience

BA or BS Degree (preferably in a technical field) and two (2) years experience* (OR) Associate Degree in a technical discipline and minimum of seven (7) years experience* (OR) High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of ten (10) years experience* is required.

Prior Related Experience:

Experience must be engineering, operations, work control, maintenance, project management, or related functions at an electric utility.


Two (2) years of nuclear power plant experience is required. Experience in scheduling or work coordination in a nuclear facility is preferred.

Licenses and/or Certifications

Previous or Current RO or SRO License or Certification at a commercial nuclear power plant OR five (5) years scheduling/work coordination experience will be acceptable.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The WWM will be the single point of contact for the Shift Manager (SM) on back shifts and assigned weekends and will interface with the SM in regards to the appropriate response relative to equipment problems. This position will communicate with the SM at the beginning of the shift and give the SM a brief prior to leaving the site each day.


The WWM will take whatever measures they deem appropriate to promote organizational effectiveness and teamwork. The WWM will be expected to provide leadership by example and will put the operation and maintenance of the plant above any other concerns. The WWM has the authority to enlist whatever organizational support is necessary during the implementation of the work week.


When the SM notifies the WWM of an emergent issue on back shifts or weekends, the WWM will notify the appropriate on-call supervisors and those supervisors whose work schedules might be interrupted the following work day. In many instances, it will be necessary to report to the site. The WWM will be present as necessary for those power reductions that have a significant amount of maintenance scheduled and in situations where 24 hour maintenance coverage is in effect for LCO planned maintenance.


The WWM has the responsibility for the organizational preparation for their work week. As the single point of contact for that week, they are also responsible for ensuring that the schedule has sufficient detail, is accurately staffed and is generally reasonable.


The WWM will track work to completion in their assigned work week and during the week following their work week. The closure of work items is as important as the implementation in supporting CNS backlog reduction goals.


In the field, the WWM is an agent of the Plant Manager and has the authority to redirect station resources. The WWM will have the authority to assign the FIN Team in the event of an emergent issue. The utilization of the FIN Team for emergent work does not require approval of any other party. The WWM also has the authority to reassign the FIN Team from work in progress as necessary.


The WWM will focus upon high quality collaboration in view of the fact that each time a task is rescheduled or does not finish on time, it impacts a peers week. Communication between WWM's is essential. They will assign action items as necessary to ensure adequate schedule preparation. It is expected that the WWM be the primary interface with MP&C and all other departments outside of the Work Control Meetings.

Pay Grade - 16 Monthly

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $9,900.00 - $12,623.00


Travel Required: Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
