School Description:

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School (CRJHS) is a private, Catholic, college-prep high school sponsored by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), serving students of diverse backgrounds from under-resourced families who live in the greater Twin Cities metropolitan area. The mission of the Cristo Rey Jesuit High School-Twin Cities is to provide an education in the Jesuit tradition which integrates college preparatory academic and professional work environments thereby preparing students from under-resourced families for success in college and life. All students are required to complete a standards based promotion, literacy and numeracy first, college preparatory curriculum and participate in the Corporate Work Study Program whereby each student works five days per month in a corporate work assignment. Cristo Rey Jesuit High School – Twin Cities is a member of the Cristo Rey Network of 38 high schools around the United States that subscribe to similar demographic, academic, and internship program guidelines. Responsibilities:

  • Staff and maintain the Wellness Office.
  • Attend to immediate student health concerns.
  • Collaborate with the assigned Minneapolis Public Schools nurse and social workers to ensure students’ physical and mental health needs are properly supported; including referring cases to health care professionals.
  • Collaborate with the Academic, and Corporate Work Study Teams, staff, and parents to ensure students’ physical and mental health needs are properly supported and to assist them and the students in meeting other CRJHS expectations.
  • Administer COVID-19 tests to students, staff and faculty. Track exposures and communicate to students, student families, and CRJHS adults the test results and school guidelines for those who may test positive.
  • Report COVID-19 data or other Health Office data to school personnel as needed.
  • Coordinate with local healthcare organizations to conduct onsite COVID-19 vaccination clinics.
  • Maintain student health records.
  • Order Wellness Office supplies, in collaboration with the MPS nurse and the Assistant Principal, to ensure the office is adequately stocked.
  • Maintain a secure office and understand the necessity for confidentiality with records and conversations.
  • Uphold school-wide expectations, routines, and norms for student conduct.
  • Supervise students in school locations outside of the Wellness Office.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal.

Professional Presence

  • Participate in continued professional development.
  • Actively build professional relationships with students as individuals in the spirit of cura personalis (care for the whole person).
  • Understand and maintain professional boundaries with students, families and CRJHS adults.
  • Participate actively in the professional community through collaboration with colleagues in a range of contexts.
  • Contribute to the CRJHS community outside of classroom responsibilities.
  • Partner with the full CRJHS community to further the mission as a college preparatory school.
  • Participate in Jesuit identity workshops and model values consistent with Catholic, Jesuit education and service to others.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Successful applicants will embody the mission-commitment, openness to growth, optimism, and professionalism that are central to the character of our staff. In addition, they will meet or exceed the following requirements:

  • Proficiency using technology to meet the needs of the Wellness Office.
  • Commitment to the mission of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.
  • Complete Virtus training, sign a Code of Conduct, and pass a background check.

Preferred:

  • Ability to speak Spanish
  • Medical training

Additional Information:

Employees in their first three years of employment will participate in Ignatian Identity cohort meetings held every six weeks with the Director of ?Jesuit Mission and Identity ?to learn more about and engage with Jesuit and Ignatian values and spirituality. Also, they will attend the Ignatian ?Retreat for New Employees during the summer after their first year of employment, with expenses paid by the School. This workshop focuses on the importance of reflection on experience, Ignatian guiding principles, and the spirituality that animates Jesuit (Ignatian) education.
