Introduction


The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of External Services is recruiting to fill a Wetland Mitigation Coordinator-Advanced vacancy. This position could be stationed out of the DNR Office in Madison, Milwaukee, Rhinelander or Spooner, WI or other DNR Office locations where space is available. This position allows for telework up to 60% of the workweek upon completion of training!

Position Summary


As a Wetland Mitigation Coordinator, you will have statewide responsibilities ensuring that the Waterways Section is correctly and consistently implementing State Wetland Mitigation laws and procedures as outlined in state statute, administrative code, and program specific SOP’s. This position is key to ensuring that all permit applications across the state receive a consistent review approach regarding wetland mitigation requirements and ensures that all proposed wetland mitigation projects are consistently and objectively reviewed. This position also coordinates with key federal agency partners to ensure consistency between Federal and State wetland mitigation requirements and develops policies that effect both State and Federal regulatory decisions.

Salary Information


Starting pay is $36.90 - $40.00 per hour ($76,752 - $83,200 annually) in pay schedule and range 15-03.

Pay on appointment for current or former state employees is based on the State Compensation Plan.

These positions include an excellent benefits package, including health care, vacation, sick leave, and retirement benefits. A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Job Details


This position requires occasional travel to field work sites around the State as well as other locations several times per year for training, meetings or conferences.

Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. DNR does not sponsor work visas. Thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

All state employees must report their COVID vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not and provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include in the following:

  • Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in wetland ecology and/or restoration
  • Education and/or comparable work experience in natural resources or applied sciences

In addition to the above qualifications, best-qualified applicants will have experience in a combination of the following:

  • Wetland compensatory mitigation processes and procedures
  • Wetland monitoring techniques
  • Reading and interpreting regulatory guidance, statutes, and administrative code
