Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Inspects treatment plants within a designated region, as assigned.
- Prepare and maintain inspection reports.
- Operates all pumps and provides necessary maintenance of pumps.
- Cleans all filters. Cleans settling basin.
- Cleans and maintains all other operating equipment.
- Collects water and/or wastewater samples and performs tests using chemicals.
- Adds prescribed amounts of chemicals and gases to water and/or effluent.
- Inspects gauges and records information.
- Performs other general maintenance on related equipment and work areas.
- Maintains required records and reports and submits reports as requested.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years in the operation of a water and/or sewage plant.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must have a valid Class II (or higher) water treatment operator's license and/or a Class II (or higher) wastewater operator's license as issued by the Kentucky Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Cabinet. https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/kar/ titles/401/005/010/. Must maintain any required licensure (s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Works outside in all types of weather.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
